Anaïs (she/her) is a settler of French and Scottish descent, who grew up and has lived most of her life on the lands of the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation, in Tiohtià:ke (Montréal). Moving to the unceded and ancestral lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh peoples (Vancouver) for her Masters invited her to explore her identity as a settler much deeper than before, which lead her on the learning path she treads today.
Her research focuses on understanding how emotions shape individual and collective action when navigating climate change and Indigenous-settler relationships. She holds a BA in Liberal Arts from McGill University (2022), and she completed an MPhil in Arts, Creativities, and Education at the University of Cambridge (2024), researching how youth cope with climate emotions. This background has taught her the power art has in bridging heads, hearts, and hands to promote self-reflexivity and learning.
Her current project explores what emotions are tied to the implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) in Vancouver and how educators can harness these emotions to promote decolonial learning in city employees. This work will inform the educational materials created for the All Our Chemical Relations project.
